Spring Vaca...

Day 1

Wake. Coffee. Bills. Emails. Pack. Goodbyes. Picnic. Shop. Drive. Drive. Stop. Drive. Hugs. Chat. Eat. Sleep.

Day 2

Wake. Coffee. Repack. Drive. Stop. Drive. Hugs. Pet. Chat. Walk. Yoga. Beer. Soak. Snuggle. Write.

That pretty much sums up our trip so far.

75 and Sunny...

After school today I could (should?) have done the responsible adult things that needed done around here like cleaning dirty dishes, answering long overdo emails, and getting some things in order before the girls and I head west for a week starting Friday. Instead I grabbed my book, a cold drink, and sat in a lawn chair reading in the sun for an hour.

Because that's what you DO when it's 75 and sunny in March.

I can feel it people...life is returning with the promise of spring.

Diggin'...

I'm so diggin' the March Madness Photo Assignment Group that my friend Jenny set up on Facebook. Each morning I check the list to see where I should be looking for a bit of beauty, or an interesting perspective, throughout the day. Some days I end up with one photo. Some days it's hard to pick from my shots which ONE gets posted on the group's wall.

I'm also diggin' the Lighbox app I downloaded for my (android) phone. I (almost) always have my phone with me, so I figure I might as well take advantage of that fact for this project. I've always been a little jealous of my friend's with iPhones since they have Instagram. Jealous no more. (All my MMPA photos can be seen on my Lightbox page...plus a few extras because I. Just. Can't. Help. Myself.)

p.s. The above photo was taken for song title day. My song: Dust on the Bottle...an old favorite from Scott and I's college days...and it makes me think of summer. I'm soooooooooo ready for summer.

Lil Bits...

Today was one of those days. There were ups. And downs. My mind is spinning as our evening winds down. I really want to sit here whining about the downs...kinda big ones as far as life stresses go...but I can't let them overshadow the ups. So I'm just going to share a few of the bits of info streaming through my head...

I was informed today by a couple of students that I have been called some names on the bus that can not be repeated because they contain language "not appropriate for school." While I try not to let my self esteem be tied to the opinions of 10-11-year-olds, it bothers me a little bit that at least some of them see me as nothing more than a big ol' bitch.
My 5th technology students have started shooting their student designed and directed animations. After a rocky start at the end of last week, 2 groups very successfully worked through getting their ideas "on film" this week. The look on their faces as they watched the first rough cut play …

Creative Distraction...

The last few days of winter...

The emotional challenges that seem to naturally come with changes of spring...

Another birthday knocking at the door...

Stress, frustrations, and questions about my life path...

The countdown to Spring Break, when I can just go home and let my Mommy take care of me for a few days...

All things that call for a little creative distraction. Enter Lightbox, a new camera app/photo blog for my phone, and a March Madness Photo a Day group started by a friend on Facebook. Today's theme, doorways...

It's often the little things that get me through a funk.

(And lots of hugs...and wine.)
