Lil Bits of Spring Goodness...

Spring makes me happy.

A March Celebration...

March is always a busy month for our family. Birthdays. Spring break visits. Busy. I have a little catching up to do here.

Today's order of catch-up business...

I honestly don't know how it is that she's now 6. I catch myself still referring to her as my 5 year old...I would have liked to have kept her there for a few more years. (OK, honestly my favorite age was 3...but 5 was pretty fun too.) I can't remember life before she brought so much sunshine into our family.

Thank you to all who helped us celebrate, including an old friend from my own elementary/middle/high school days who made and delivered (all the way from Illinois) the custom cupcake toppers. Check out her custom cakes business Sugar Mama Custom Cakes. You'll be glad you did.

These Words...

I sit down and type these words. With the completion of this post it's a practice I've completed 671 times. That fact blows my mine. Sometimes posts are written all in one sitting. More often they are pieced together while I make dinner, check on baths, give kisses good night. I write a post, edit, and publish. Sometimes I write a post and delete. Words written, never shared.

This blog is probably the closest thing to a memoir I will ever write. I think about how much I would enjoy reading my Mom's thoughts through the years as she lived the joys and challenges of our life when I was a kid. It would be fun to f…

Powerful Words Promoting Change...

Generally speaking I try to keep this spot more family/personal thoughts/life oriented and use my business blog to write about things related to the practice/business of yoga and the promotion of health. But often, because my life and that work/practice/study are so interwoven, I have a hard time deciding with which group of readers I'd like to share a post. (Though I'm suspicious that for the most part my readership is mostly the same small group of lovely people. That's one of the weird things about writing a blog...you never REALLY know whose reading.)

I find myself more and more interested and involved in the growing movement that is working to encourage our current food system to make changes towards a healthier, more sustainable model than what is the current norm. It's a movement I feel very passionate about both professionally and personally. I wrote about it over at Happy Daisy Yoga today, sparked by watching a great TEDxAustin talk by "real food" eva…
