Nothing Special...

Thursday I got a chance to catch up with a new friend here in town I haven't seen for a couple of months since she's been busy getting married and going on a honeymoon and all. (Hi Heather.) Any way she commented that she'd been keeping up on our activities here on the blog, and that we do such fun things. I assured it's the nature of blogging. Yes, we do try to go on some fun "out of the box" adventures, but we also have plenty of down time at home during the summer which normally doesn't get highlighted.

Like yesterday for example:
  • We'd already been to the pool 3 times during the week.
  • We'd spent a few hours of Thursday afternoon at the zoo since the temps had come down enough we could be outside without wilting.
  • The girls had gone to a friend's for a princess party earlier in the week.
  • We had our normal summer Wednesday with another friend's kiddos in the house while she was at work.
Basically, after our morning out so I could work with a yoga client, I just wanted to stay home. Which means we do things like...

read in a quiet, sunny corner...

and dishes.

Nothing special, but at the same time little luxuries of summer life.

Exploring DSM...

The girls and I have been doing a little exploring this summer of locally owned coffee shops in Des Moines. Today we went to Mars Cafe in the Drake neighborhood. Deliciousness and fun was had by all.

The girls are already wondering when we can go back. (And honestly, so am I.)

Vacated to KC...

We took a quick trip to visit Scott's parents in KC for the week of the 4th. It was a lovely time. I'm kinda having a hard time with post vacation re-entry. But having 300+ photos to sort through from our trip helps.

Waiting for fireworks...

An afternoon at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead...

Our first of what I expect to be many visits to Nelson-Atkins...

Lunch date at Grinders (and a hot walk around the surrounding Crossroads district)...

While I'm a small town country girl at heart, I had a great time checking out some new to us places in the big city this trip. Thanks Mavin's for a couple of fun filled, but relaxing days of vacation!
