Winter has officially arrived in Iowa this week with the first snow of the season. Lexi couldn't be happier. There was much concern at Christmas time as "how is Santa suppose to come when there is no snow for his sleigh?" A very valid concern when you're 5! While we assured her that Santa's sleigh is able to go places that don't have snow, she was still disappointed as "it's just suppose to be snowy for Christmas." I admit, I would have liked a little of the white stuff to help with the festive mood...but what are ya gonna do?
Monday morning we woke up to a blanket of white and so after layering on the snow pants, coat, boots, gloves, hat, scarf (after making sure she had peed!) Lexi finally got to go out and play in the snow. Unfortunately cold temps have come with this storm and so snowmen, snow ball fights, and snow forts are currently out of the realm of possibilities. But snow angles and side-walk scooping kept her occupied until it was time to come in for some hot chocolate. Have you ever known a kid who ASKS to go out and scoop the side walk? She'd spend hours out there scrapping away if we let her!
Hopefully this snow will stick around for a while and we'll get a chance to go find a good sledding spot for a little more winter time fine this weekend. What fun it is to be able to act like a kid with your kids!
